It's Not Goodbye
Goodbye goodbye . . .
I'm trying not to cry
For I've said my peace to you and more
And now I pray . . . for your soul I so adore
Did I see your presence today in the clouds above?
I think I spoke to you and felt you listen with love
Your rigid, frightened features appeared to soften as we spoke
Unsure if this was real, I wondered if it was just a joke
But then You came, I saw the hawk circle high
Capturing my attention, grabbing my eye
Your presence answered all my questions, I was without a doubt
It was then I noticed you were without a pout
In this fleeting moment, we exchanged words
Tacitly, lovingly, all guided by a bird
As your image softened and then slowly faded away
From out of nowhere more hawks appeared as if to say
We're always here -- to protect you – messengers of the sky
Telling me your soul is safe, that there's no need to cry
For it's all up to our Maker - for He calls physical time
So have no fear, no regrets, for in spirit everything is fine
In this realization, I cried happy tears
As the sounds of the hawks were a blessing to my ears
Reassured and renewed, I finally let go and felt free to cry
To cry out to the Lord, for this is not goodbye
While I may not be able to hug you physically from here
I "see" you, I feel you -- as our hawks appeared
Although not in plain sight
I trust in my heart that everything is just right
So Soar on, fly free and always be
In our guardian hawk's trusted company
For our hawk will continue carrying messages to and fro
Reminding me to keep on, to always trust and let go
For a Father's love is greater than any earthly pleasure
Inexplicable, delicious, filled with so many memories to treasure
Such presence, full of faith, hope, and love
Today, our Hawk told me to celebrate-- for you are safe in the arms of Our Heavenly Father above
