Do you feel consumed by life -- tired, overwhelmed, or irritable a lot of the time? Do you feel jittery, anxious, with stores of excess nervous energy just waiting to find expression?
I was looking for a breath of life
A little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head sang no
To get a dream of life again
A little of vision of the start and the end
But all the choirs in my head sang no
Are you looking for a breath of life? A little touch of heavenly light?
Do you know what's draining your energy? What is your mind saying?
How do you refuel?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are energy beings. Everything is energy. We are living in a hectic time with a lot of emotion coming to the surface. We are also living at a time when there is an abundance of light available to us, from the higher realm, ready and waiting to assist us.
We simply need the know-how for accessing our Light, to open up our hearts and to connect with the abundance of light streaming all around us. Once accessed, we can bring it into our bodies. Accessing our higher Light can help us cleanse and clear negative emotions that are making us feel uncomfortable and in pain.
Our breath can help us step back to observe a particular experience or current difficulty that feels like a struggle. Using the breath to calm the body and to access and direct our Light can cleanse and heal our energetic body. White light will remove negativity, transmuting fear into love.
Learning how to ground and release energy blockages is easier to do when things are going well. So practicing will help make release possible for when you are caught in tough times.
Connecting with the ocean of Light above and rooting or anchoring light energy deeply into the ground beneath us brings the self into alignment with Source energy.
Alignment brings flow and ease -- providing space for connecting with the higher Self to overcome life's difficulties --to choose not to engage and resist but rather to see things with love and to learn.
The breath is a convenient tool that's readily available to help us, to help us take a step back, to observe, and to choose how to respond. With focused practice, the breath can serve as our alert system, much like the warning lights in our automobile, reminding us when it's time to pull over to refuel. While we may not like paying for gasoline, we must pull over and gas up when the red light indicates.
There can be consequences and high costs involved when we ignore warning signs, especially failing to heed the body's messaging system, often signaling us to pull over and refuel -- Ironically, there's no charge for using the breath. It's free of charge.
While breathing costs nothing and is one of our automatic gifts, received at the time of inception, pre-installed and readily accessible, it has a special feature. Unlike the heart, the lungs, and our other major organs that automatically handle bodily functions, the breath can be controlled manually, willfully, mindfully. It's our choice.
Although we come preprogrammed, with a pre-determined packaged amount of breaths before expiring, the breath is a unique gift, a specific tool we can consciously use to access spirit -- to gain a sense of control and mastery over our lives.
Today's modern world, so filled with electronic gadgetry and instantaneous access to information, is perpetually bombarding and overwhelming us with stimuli -- constantly connecting and draining our energy system externally. When our attention is scattered, or absorbed in multitasking -- we behave habitually and automatically, mindlessly operating without focused intentionality.
The mind must label or identify in an effort to make meaning. It likes simplicity and organization. So when threatened and disconnected from the body, the mind reacts, often with fear and either "fights or flees." If the mind is not gently guided by the heart, assisted by calm breath, reassured and firmly grounded in body, the mind is left to handle things on its own, and everyone pays the price. A reactive mind creates emotional, psychological and physiological consequences.
An unfocused mind generally replays the same fearful, negative thoughts. This repetitive loop is troublesome and frustrating for the mind, body and soul. When we remain unaware of how the mind incessantly chatters, we allow it to own us. Left to operate on its own accord, the mind plays out a different version of reality, unlike the one our higher Self can experience.
The mind operates largely in rewind or in fast-forward mode, while the heart, on the other hand, enjoys frequent pausing, for intimately connecting with Source energy. The heart is aware of it's true source of empowerment and wisely uses the breath for passage, to link the mind, body, and soul.
The body is simply a fleshly coat worn by spirit. Residing within the body is a non-physical energy or consciousness. Consciousness is more than the brain. Consciousness is the energy behind the brain, the observer or the higher Self. The soul or spirit enters the body at a base level of consciousness and the goal is to ascend in consciousness, for the body/mind to release emotional energy blockage.
Ascending is like leveling up or powering up in a game. It is essentially seeing life in a new reality, it is the process of expanding beliefs that make up the original base level of consciousness. But to expand consciousness, reality must change and a release in the form of mistaken beliefs must occur.
We are all connected with supreme consciousness or are one with the Divine, our unlimited source of power. Ascension is the process of clearing and releasing the emotional blockages, thoughts, and beliefs that limit us from experiencing our oneness with the Divine. By transmuting lower vibrational energy, like anger, judgment, shame, guilt, envy, and greed into compassion, we can balance the dark, dense, shadow parts of ourselves.
Our ruminating thoughts waste enormous amounts of precious time and keep us vibrating at a lower level. Moments spent hijacked by thought are hardly ever satisfying. Usually they produce anxiety and a sense of time urgency, as they fill us with fear with thoughts like, "there's never enough time” or "gone are the good old days.”
A nervous system living in perpetual rewind, replaying regrets of the past or one that is living fast-forwardly, anxiously anticipating the future is one that is hyper-aroused, agitated, and out of balance. When we are out of balance, we our not energy efficient and cannot playfully engage in the present moment.
An over-aroused nervous system is always on high alert, constantly in a state of threat, whether the threat is real or imagined. Consequently, the body gets taken hostage, forced to shut off executive brain functioning or rational thinking in order for instincts to take over to ensure its survival. But even once a real threat has passed, let's say a misunderstanding or heated argument with a colleague at work, our mind gets looped, confused by fear and irrational thoughts, taking us over, making us prisoners to fear, worry, anxiety, anger, depression and more. We get stuck and don't know how to un-loop this cycle.
Living on a rigid time clock makes it difficult to observe our concept of time, for realizing that it's possible and empowering to live in the present moment. Instead, time is spent racing against the clock, in resistance, while life energy slowly disappears. Racing through life affords few things to be performed mindfully or with full body presence. For instance, we may eat mindlessly, oblivious to food's flavor or texture, lacking appreciation for where our food is sourced all the while distracted -- reading, absorbing the horrific sensationalism and negative energy streaming into our system from newspapers and digital devices. Maybe you're secretly checking emails while "helping" your children with homework. It's commonplace to let our mind run through its “to do” list while our body seems to be driving us somewhere else.
If we could just get the mind and the body on the same page, to take a moment to push the pause button and carve out purposeful space for connection. It's in present-moment connection that we experience our true power, gain access to Source energy and allow living with greater richness, for transcending the little self and for realizing the greater Self.
Density, resistance, uncomfortable feelings and pain are necessary for ascension.
Learning how to appreciate the role dense feelings, emotions, and even other people play in teaching us lessons in duality or contrast helps raise our awareness and neutralizes the power of the dense or dark in order to empower us to expand our base consciousness and rise to higher levels of consciousness.
Owning each present moment is possible by using our breath which can help reframe how we see time. As we clear blockages keeping us from realizing our full extent or capacity for love, oneness, and compassion, we become more loving and compassionate. A more loving self can observe how thoughts or mistaken beliefs are acting as thieves, stealing our time -- draining our prana, taking our breath of life.
Making every moment our own is the essence of mindfulness. We can be hurrying, making lists, reminiscing, or planning for the future, but without awareness, it's all just an insignificant blur.
Awareness of our breath brings awareness for what we're doing and brings an active calm to life -- for appreciating the process of ascension-- for learning about ourselves -- for easing up, relaxing and reconnecting with Source energy.
Intentionally carving out time for getting in touch with our body using the breath can help us become aware of what's actually happening within us so we're better able to perceive what's happening all around us -- moment to moment.
Conscious connection puts us in the driver's seat, allowing us to make better choices about how we wish to think -- how we choose to spend our time and energy.
Focusing energy in the present moment gives us agency over our lives, making us better able to organize and manage life.
Just fifteen minutes a day can give you greater perspective about how you've been living.
You can make a list, prioritize the things that you have to do on one side and the things you want to do on the other. You can choose to give up some of those "have to dos." Yes! You heard me. Say "NO" to people and situations where you'd immediately say "Yes."
But freeing yourself from becoming a prisoner of time takes action that requires bypassing the thinking mind. You are free to choose. Sometimes we forget. Making necessary changes -- noticing patterns of thinking, mistaken beliefs -- is difficult to do from the mind. We need to use the breath to access the body, to get to the heart.
Maybe you've grown up with parents, like mine, who worked relentlessly, passing on that workhorse mentality, along with the feelings of guilt associated with taking time out for yourself to rest or play. If you're lucky enough to realize how and why you are feeling a particular way but unable to move on, to find forgiveness, to expand with love, then let the body and the breath assist you with release.
How can we release negative energy?
Very simply. In only 15 minutes. It's right under your nose -- With your breath.
Breath carries our "prana" – or life force energy. Just take a second now to notice your breath.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simply observe your breathing. Watch your breath. Watch it as it enters into your nostrils, trace it as it moves up your nose into the top of your head, feel your belly rise, your chest expand. Now exhale deeply.
Next, breathe in deeply through your nose. Allow your breath to fill the crown of your head. Hold there for a few seconds. Now exhale your breath down throughout your body. Starting from the top of your head – flow the breath down past your eyes, along your nose, into your mouth, down the back of your throat, down and around your neck; feel the breath settle at the top of your shoulders, let it pass gently down each arm, allowing it to come out your fingertips and run it back up underneath your arms, underneath your arm pits.
Bring in another gently breath, allow it to enter in from deeply within your chest, feel it rest at your heart center – fill your heart chakra with warm breath, just stay here a few moments longer and breathe. In and out from your nose.
Slowly bring your breath down into your solar plexus, just above your navel, lowering it into your coccyx, into your first chakra – or the root chakra. Stay here for awhile. Let the breath settle at the base of your spine. Just sit here with your breath. Stay here. Breathe. Feel rooted --feel grounded -- envision deep roots coming from your feet, rooting you into the ground, like a tree. Feel your roots firmly planted, connecting you deeply with the earth. Breathe. With another inhalation -- send all negative energy down through your legs and out from your feet. Allow the earth to absorb any stale, stagnant, dark energy, blow it all out from your body. Send it down to Mother Earth, allow her to absorb and transmute your energy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that all the dense energy has been sent out and transmuted, it's time to bring in protective, cleansing energy. Breathe in a strong, clean, crisp inhalation, inhaling from your nose, and imagine white light flooding your body -- allow the white light to enter in through the top of your head. Bring the loving white, cleansing energy down into every part of your body as you imagine white light healing and clearing every cell, muscle, tissue, ligament, tendon, and organ in your body. As the light arrives at your feet, send everything out –releasing negativity-- asking Mother Earth to transmute negativity into loving white energy, bringing new energy back up into your body from the bottoms of your feet. Thank Her for re-energizing, grounding, nurturing and healing you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now feeling refreshed and renewed, you are ready to share loving energy with others. Envision white light surrounding your entire body, protecting your aura. This protective bubble will shield you from negativity that drains your energy. Feel this pure, clean energy enliven your newly refreshed body from the inside out. Enjoy how it feels. Sit with this feeling. Send out feelings of loving protection to whomever you choose. Vividly imagine every detail about the person you are sending love and light. Imagine his or her face while sending white healing light from your heart center. From the heart, bring that loving warm energy up to your third eye, the spot right between your eyebrows, and lovingly direct it into the third eye of your chosen recipient. Smile lovingly while surrounding your recipient in white protective light. Stay with the feeling of love, envisioning white healing light while mentally sending loving thoughts and healing energy. Stay here. Breathe. Smile. Send and receive love.
Today can be the first step towards honoring yourself. And it all starts with your breath.
Keep slowing down your pace just long enough for becoming aware of breathing.
Simply consciously breathe often.
Get in the habit to take mental breaks, to step back, to take in a deep cleansing inhalation from your nose, and then forcefully exhale all the stagnant energy from your mouth. Repeat this three times.
Throughout the day practice breathing in deeply from your nose, and breathing out deeply from your nose. Keep breathing in and out from your nose, focusing on your breath for a cycle of ten breaths. Gently lay your hands on your belly, feel the belly expand and contract.
Your breath will help you calm down, help you down-regulate, so you may notice what's happening inside your mind and within your body, as well as, what's happening all around you.
Within nature, electro-magnetic currents are constantly flowing -- vibrational energy – life is engaging through you as we speak. Energy is alive; racing through your veins. We more readily recognize energy currents in our household appliances and computer applications than noticing what's going on within and around us. When the lights turn on in our home, we can see it. We feel warm air when the heater is working. But we generally have difficulty grasping the concept of energy when it can't be “seen.” This takes practice. The breath will help you re-discover your Self.
Universal source energy is omnipresent and sustains all things. We are loaded with miraculous energies and powers that can touch and change the world. In our current high-tech society, we have become energy consumers and have forgotten that we too are magnificent producers and creators. Allowing ourselves to re-connect to the powerful Source within us, we are reminded of our innate power.
Stepping out of the time-pressured rat race for slowing down to simplify your life will let you rest mindfully in breathing -- for enjoying moment to moment inner awareness. The breath will wake you up, step you into owning the choices you can make, making you able to see how you are choosing to live rather than blaming others for how life seems to be playing out or happening to you.
The breath is the bridge towards acceptance. Acceptance is seeing what is -- without judgment -- without blame -- without criticism. It's seeing life as your mirror, allowing you to use your internal navigational system to get what you need.
Acceptance lets us be with the present, living moment to moment, letting go of striving, letting go of resisting so that we can be non-judging of ourselves to let the future unfold naturally.
Living in the moment invites inspiration and creativity. We can do whatever we want if we're willing to make the effort.
Just fifteen minutes out of twenty-four hours is all you'll need -- only a small daily investment for assessing your inner landscape.
Are you ready to tap out of the chaos and tap into your body, using your breath to unveil hidden jewels?
Please take time today to connect with your breath, with your energy -- to find your breath of life -- to experience that touch of heaven.
The breath will put you in touch with what you're thinking and how you're feeling -- opening you to opportunities for releasing the old and for receiving the new, especially filling up with self-love and forgiveness and sharing compassion and love with others.
Sending love is healing energy that has a ripple effect: providing great joy and a sense of gratitude. Gratitude motivates and sustains desire to continuing striving for inner connection, experiencing peace and blissful joy-- all directly experienced -- made possible with the breath.
Much beauty, breath & blessings,
